Over the long weekend here where I live, I spent a lot of time on YouTube listening to songs remade in
Mario Paint.
Mario Paint was a creative game for the Super Nintendo released with the SNES Mouse, where you could draw and create animations, but the main part of the software that has kept the game in use for over a decade is the music creator. If you search
Mario Paint on YouTube, you'll find over 10000 videos where people have used the game to create versions of video game music and popular songs using the limited instruments of
Mario Paint, or it's hacked Windows counterpart (which is also much more lenient on note structure),
Mario Paint Composer.
Mario Paint Composer was not made by Nintendo, and allows creators to create music with more than three notes per bar, as opposed to the original game, which restricted the user to three notes a bar for music creation. I found the
Mario Paint songs more impressive, but it's very hard to find some made with the original software so you'll find a lot done with
Mario Paint Composer, which is still impressive given the instrument restraints. I've included some very good renditions as well as some you may know if you don't listen to much video game music:
Of course, these are only a few songs you can find. If you want to find others, just search "Mario Paint" in YouTube and you'll find lots of songs made with it.
